Elaine and a few of her favorite things: exotic places, a day at the races, delicious food, paddle boarding, bucolic landscapes, mother nature - stuff like that.

After graduating from the College for Creative Studies, Elaine has been fortunate enough to photograph assignments for the Detroit Free Press, Detroit Institute of Arts, Metromix.com, Toyota Boshoku, BFG Communications, and the Detroit Medical Center. “I was born in Detroit and raised in Westland, Michigan. Even at a young age, I loved cameras and paper - things I’m still obsessed about (BTW, I also design wedding and party invitations, *shameless plug* ). Fast forward a bit - I’ve been married to my best friend Ben since 2010. We have 2 beautiful daughters, serious Nina and happy Iris. Home is now Jackson, Michigan, a picturesque back drop that’s just perfect for your next photo shoot!"
Q. Elaine, why should we hire you to photograph our wedding?
A. If you’re reading this section, it’s because you found the beauty in my portfolio inspiring; perhaps you even felt a connection to the photographs seen here on my web site and now you want the most important day of your life documented by a fabulous photographer (who also happens to be professional and super fun to work with).
Q. Do you travel outside of the Southeastern Michigan area? And will that cost more?
A. Of course! I am willing to drive up to 100 miles round trip on my own dime, and additional mileage incurs a travel surcharge of $0.55/mile (2016 IRS business mileage rate). I ask for overnight lodging ($200/night) if the drive from your event to Jackson, MI takes me past midnight. There are additional fees associated with destination weddings such as airfare, accommodations, ground transportation, and meals.
Q. How can we make sure we get all the shots we want of our wedding?
A. Prior to your wedding date, I will send out a questionnaire getting all the details about your wedding party, vendors, locations, your desired shot list, the timeline for the day, and if you have them, a web site or other social media outlets. If your family or wedding party would like certain photos taken, I can make every effort to accommodate them too.
Q. Can I give you Pintrest ideas?
A. I would love to check out your Pintrest boards! However, I don’t like to copy other people’s work. It’s fun to have a photographer that you really connect with and want to be creative with. I think that should be an important aspect to consider when you’re ready to book any vendor.
Q. How many photographs will we get? And how long will it take to receive them after the wedding day?
A. About 1 month after your wedding day, you will receive approximately 500 – 800 high resolution, professionally edited photos. I focus on quality over quantity. The portfolios I create for my clients are beautiful and creative, without redundant images. Your photos will be given to you on a USB drive and will also include a print/copyright waiver.
Q. How does an engagement session work?
A. Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know each other before your wedding day. My complimentary, 60-minute session takes place in the Jackson or Ann Arbor area.
Q. What equipment do you use?
A. I shoot primarily with Canon cameras and lenses.
Q. Can we meet in person for a consultation?
A. Definitely! I would love to sit down and chat over coffee at my studio in Jackson, MI (634 N Mechanic). If you aren’t able to meet there, we can find a more convenient location for you. We can also schedule a meeting via Skype, Facetime, Google Hangouts, etc.
